Values
Transparency is at the heart of my values because to be able to make the best choice with full knowledge of the facts, you must have all the information.
Tant Mieux's mission is therefore to present ethical brands and environmentally friendly products that limit their impact on our planet.
This selection is made on concrete criteria and our goal is to offer you the alternatives that best correspond to your own values and needs .
So that you can see at a glance which brand meets your values, Tant Mieux has developed a list of 12 criteria associated with an icon for each of our values.
1/ Made in France
There is a difference between made in France and "designed in France", "thought in France" or even sometimes "created in France" as many brands highlight! This is also called greenwashing.
“Made in France” means that the product was 100% designed and produced on French territory , with all local know-how and French concern for quality. There is therefore an approach that encourages the local economy and reduces the carbon footprint thanks to proximity while respecting quality standards and French working conditions.
2/ Made in Europe
3/ Local Production
Local production refers to the manufacturing of goods or growing of products in a specific geographic region, thereby promoting the local economy and reducing the carbon footprint. This movement highlights the importance of supporting small entrepreneurs and quality products, close to home.
In our case, we are based in Lorient in Morbihan in Brittany and the products identified as “local” are produced within a radius of 125km .
4/ Crafts
Craftsmanship is the art of creating works by hand , with attention to detail and technical expertise . It is a fusion of creativity and craftsmanship, where artisans transform ordinary materials into unique pieces of their own style.
A guarantee of quality and authenticity in our world of mass production. And above all, there is a real person behind each object
5/ Vegan & Cruelty Free
We love all animals and we firmly believe that saving our planet also means respecting them. Therefore, none of the products mentioned on our site have been subjected to animal testing.
In addition, items marked "Vegan" completely exclude the use of ingredients derived from animals (for example beeswax, honey or even leather)
6/ Organic
An organic product is characterized by compliance with certain ecological and environmental standards and principles which exclude the use of GMOs as well as the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers and synthetic chemicals.
Organic products also promote the preservation of biodiversity and respect for animal welfare.
They are generally identifiable thanks to labels or certifications which guarantee their compliance with organic standards (even if this is not always the case for small producers/creators because these labels are expensive!).
7/ Natural
Because you can be organic, vegan and cruelty free without being 100% natural (hello industrial brands that are riding the “green” trend), the items marked “Natural” come directly from nature and are minimally transformed , thus offering benefits for health and the environment.
These products, from organic sources or plant extracts, are designed to promote well-being and offer an alternative that is more respectful of our health and our planet.
They do not contain any endocrine disruptors or controversial ingredients.
8/ Zero waste
Zero waste is a bit like saying “goodbye” to disposable items and “welcome” to sustainable alternatives. We replace plastic bags with reusable fabric bags, plastic water bottles with water bottles, and disposable packaging with reusable containers, etc. etc.
We do everything we can to reduce, reuse and recycle our waste instead of throwing it in the trash (the 3 R rule)
9/ Upcycling
10/ Recycling
Recycling is an essential practice of our time, allowing us to give a second life to waste to preserve our environment. It is a responsible and sustainable way to reuse materials , thus contributing to the fight against waste and the preservation of resources.
Recycled products also help limit the production of greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming because their production process often takes less time than producing new products.
11/ Fair trade
The majority of our selected brands are local, French or even European. However, for certain shots of 💛 with very local, even ancestral know-how and if the brands meet our values by respecting fair trade, then we offer them to you exceptionally 😊
Fair trade emphasizes fairness, solidarity and respect for the rights of workers and producers. It encourages sustainable practices, promotes access to international markets and allows consumers to make conscious choices to support companies with a positive social and environmental impact.
12/ Labels
The different eco-responsible labels are certifications awarded to companies that respect strict environmental criteria in their production process. They allow consumers to easily identify brands that are committed to the planet.
But be careful, not all are equal!
